Participation of ZSMU at the opening ceremony
of the Ukrainian-African Academic Center in Kharkov

On February 22, 2013 the ceremonial opening of the Ukrainian-African Academic Center was held at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The ceremony was attended by Joaquim Augusto de Lemos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Russian Federation, Jaka M. Mwambi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tanzania in the Russian Federation, Philip Mundia Githiora, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in the Russian Federation, G.G. Samoilov, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Tunisia in Ukraine, I.V. Gagarina, Director of the Ukrainian State Center of International Education of Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

This Center is intended to develop all-round efficient relations between the universities of Ukraine and Africa in the cultural, science-relatedand educational spheres and to improve the quality and efficiency of the international collaboration. Its main tasks are to initiate and implement bilateral projects in education and academic exchanges.
In the frames of the event there was also held penal discussion “Strengthening of Ukrainian-African Partnership in the field of higher education”, which among the other issues dealt with the prospects of cooperation of Ukrainian higher educational institutions with African countries.

Except the diplomatic corps the representatives of the most influential institutes of higher education of Kharkov took part in the ceremonial meeting, as well as Zaporizhzhia State Medical University represented by Pro-rector for scientific-pedagogic work and international relations M.O. Avramenko, Sumy State University represented by First Pro-rector V.D. Karpusha, and Poltava State Agrarian Academy represented by Pro-rector for international relations, Dean of the Preparatory Department for foreign students O.O. Gorb.
