Department of Otorhinolaryngology

Vasyl TROIAN, Professort, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Member of the Board of the Otorhinolaryngologists Society of Ukraine, doctor of the highest category.
Historical Reference
The Department was founded in January 1968.
In 2000, the Head of the Department was elected Professor Vasyl Troian, the author of 175 scientific papers, 14 patents for utility models.
Since the founding of the Department, its scientific direction has been the study of inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, occupational pathology and ENT oncology.
Educational Disciplines
Fourth-year students majoring in 222 Medicine, 228 Pediatrics, 221 Dentistry, and interns study Otorhinolaryngology.
Educational and Methodical Work
The training of students at the Department is based on the principles of providing methodological and informational organization of the educational process with elements of independent work, as well as the introduction of new effective forms of knowledge and skills control using distance learning technologies (MS Teams).
According to the curriculum, work programs have been created according to the Bologna Declaration. Lectures are given using multimedia technologies.
From 2010 to 2020, a number of works was published at the Department: "Textbook on Otorhinolaryngology for Independent Work of Fourth-year Medical Students"; "Selected Lectures on Otorhinolaryngology. For English-Speaking Students of Medical HEI"; "Teaching Manual on Otorhinolaryngology for Independent Work of Fourth-year Students Majoring in Dentistry"; "Teaching Manual on Otorhinolaryngology for Independent Work of Fourth-year Students with English Medium of Instruction"; methodical manual "Otorhinolaryngology" for interns in the specialty "General Practice — Family Medicine"; textbook "Otorhinolaryngology" (lecture course for Russian-speaking foreign students); textbook "Experience in Implementing D-PBL Method Using Virtual Patients at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University"; workshop on Otorhinolaryngology for fourth-year medical students; textbook "Otorhinolaryngology" (lecture course for fourth-year students majoring in 221 Dentistry); textbook "Otorhinolaryngology" (lecture course for Russian-speaking foreign fourth-year students majoring in 221 Dentistry); textbook "Otorhinolaryngology" (lecture course for fourth-year students majoring in 222 Medicine); textbook "Otorhinolaryngology" (lecture course for fourth-year students majoring in 228 Pediatrics)".
Scientific Directions and Achievements
Lecturers of the Department received 25 patents for utility models and published more than 500 scientific articles.
Cooperation with Other Institutions
The Department maintains close scientific ties with the Kolomiychenko Research Institute of Otolaryngology of the NAMS of Ukraine and with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Bogomolets National Medical University, Kyiv.
Advisory and Diagnostic Activities
Employees of the Department perform medical, diagnostic and consultative work in the Otorhinolaryngological Units of City Hospital No. 3, Motor Sich Clinic LLC and in the University Clinic MESC.
Employees of the Department have a high level of qualification in practical otorhinolaryngology, and have repeatedly passed internships abroad (Greece, Denmark, Spain, France, Poland, Great Britain).
