The Department of Pharmacy of the FPE was founded in 2004.
In 2007, it was reorganized into the Department of Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Medicines Technology of the FPE, and in 2009 the name was changed to the Department of Pharmacognosy, Pharmachemistry and Medicines Technology.
From the moment of its foundation until February 2020, the department was headed by Professor Oleksandr Mazulin, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Under his leadership, active scientific work was carried out to study the morphological, anatomical and phytochemical properties of medicinal plants of the flora of Ukraine of the families Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Polygonaceae. 11 candidate dissertations were defended, 8 patents for utility models were obtained, 22 information letters, 5 manuals with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine were issued.
On 01/04/2020 the Department of Pharmacognosy, Pharmachemistry and Medicines Technology was reorganized into the Department of Pharmacy Management and Economics, and Pharmaceutical Technology by order of the Rector. Professor Inna Bushuieva was appointed as the head of the Department.
The Department is actively conducting research on "Pharmacognostic and Environmental Studies of Genera: Valerian, Marigold, Yarrow, Wormwood, Mustard, Thyme, Oregano, Comfrey, Plantain Flora of Ukraine and Obtaining Medicines of Hemostatic, Anti-inflammatory and Diuretic Action" (state registration No. 0112U0056451).
The Department is a unique scientific and pedagogical base for training pharmacists-interns, conducting pre-certification courses of improving the skills of pharmacists in the specializations "Pharmacy Organization and Management", "General Pharmacy", "Analytical and Control Pharmacy"; pharmacists in the specialty "Pharmacy" and specialization and thematic improvement of pharmaceutical workers.
Since June 2020, the Department has been conducting thematical improvement courses for the staff of clinical departments of ZSMU "Work of Clinical Departments with Helsi Computer Information System Under Industry Restructuring". Since the existence of the Department, there were more than 125 pharmaceutical graduates of advanced training courses (pre-certification courses and thematic improvement courses). Postgraduate studies (full-time, part-time and evening classes) are open at the Department for the training of scientific personnel in Pharmacy. Graduates of the Department work as pharmacists in Ukraine and abroad. Almost 20,000 specialists in the pharmaceutical specialty acquired new knowledge and received recommendations for further qualification categories in various specializations. In addition, more than 7,000 interns have obtained the right to receive a certificate in the primary specialization "General Pharmacy".

The Department provides training in thematic improvement courses for pharmacists, namely: "Current Issues of Pharmaceutical Activity", "Legal Aspects of Circulation of Precursors in Medicine, Pharmacy and Industry of Ukraine", etc.
Educational and Methodical Work
Professor Inna Bushuieva is a co-author of a standard unified training program for pharmacists in the specialty "General Pharmacy", the author of 151 educational and methodical works, including 5 methodical recommendations with the stamp of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, test situational tasks for conducting the "KROK-3. Pharmacy" license exam for pharmacists-interns included in the database of tests approved as an educational publication of the Ministry of Health (2017-2020).
The training of specialists at the Department is based on the principles of optimization and provision of information organization of the educational process with elements of independent work, as well as on the introduction of new effective forms of control of acquired competencies.
The Department has created a block of educational and methodological literature on the training of pharmacists-interns and participants of advanced training courses.
Work programs for all disciplines have been created in accordance with the curriculum.
Lectures for pharmacists-interns and participants of advanced training courses in the relevant cycles are conducted using elements of distance technology.
The Department has created online courses in disciplines to prepare for seminars and independent work of interns.
In the long term, it is planned to create and implement online courses and electronic content for the entire contingent, receiving educational services.
Educational and methodical materials of the Department are regularly posted on the ftp-resource and repository of the ZSMU library.
Scientific Directions and Achievements
The topic of Department's scientific work "Pharmacognostic and Ecological Research of Promising Species of Flora Families of Ukraine to Standardize Plant Raw Materials and Make Medicines" is based on morphological, anatomical, phytochemical and biological studies of promising sources of medicinal plant raw materials of Ukraine and medicines based on them. The ecological pollution of the studied medicinal plant raw materials with heavy metals, nitrates, nitrosamines and other agents is studied.
Promising methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis of medicinal plant raw materials of the flora of Ukraine and new medicines of hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, wound-healing effects are being developed. Marketing research of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine is carried out.
Researchers of the Department regularly issue information letters and patents for utility models and inventions.
Professor Inna Bushuieva conducts marketing and pharmacoeconomic research of veterinary medicines for the treatment of gynecological diseases of cattle and sheep and viral diseases of poultry; pharmacotechnological and pharmacoeconomic research on the development of veterinary medicines for the prevention and treatment of animal and poultry diseases.
Professor Inna Bushuieva is the author of 357 scientific papers, including 90 professional articles, 47 articles in international journals, 10 — in Web of Science and Scopus, 4 utility model patents, 4 information sheets, 2 innovations, 15 copyright certificates for the right to work in Ukraine.
Cooperation with Other Institutions
The Department maintains relations with the HEI and research institutes of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Poltava and Odessa. In addition, within the framework of the signed memorandums, the Department cooperates with following institutions:
Advisory work is performed on the basis of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University and on the basis of the Farmatsiia Pharmacy Association and other cities (during on-site courses). Advisory assistance is provided to pharmaceutical workers on pharmaceutical legislation, management and marketing in pharmacy, pharmaceutical logistics, pharmaceutical technology, etc.
Professor Inna Bushuieva is: a reviewer at the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines in Zaporizhzhia oblast; co-developer of the higher education standard and educational-professional program in specialty 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy of the second (Master's) level of higher education as a member of the Working Group of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine; member of the Organizing Committee and editor of the SWorld Research Project under the SWorld-Men-Education program; member of the editorial board of the Scientific Look into the Future magazine; member of the editorial board of the Current Issues of Pharmaceutical and Medical Science and Practice magazine; chairman of the Expert Commission for Accreditation Examination of Training Specialists in specialty 7.12020102 Clinical Pharmacy in Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy; member of the Expert Commission for Accreditation of a college of the National Univeristy of Pharmacy; member of the Committee for Professional Examination of Tests of the "KROK-3.
