Center for Distance Education and Telemedicine

The Center for Distance Education and Telemedicine (CDET) of ZSMU was established in 2005 on the basis of the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Informatics and Advanced Technologies and the Center for New Information Technologies.
The main tasks and functions of the Center:
Employees of the Center develop information and learning environments and distance learning courses; training of specialists in distance learning; educational services in the areas of postgraduate medical and pharmaceutical education are provided; international cooperation in the field of distance education and contacts with EU organizations (TACIS, TEMPUS, DELFI, etc.).
During the existence of the Center, a number of international and national teleconferences on cardiology were organized and held (Ukraine, Poland, USA, 2006); teleсonference Zaporizhzhia (ZSMU) — Kyiv (KPI NPU) — Moscow (Faculty of Fundamental Medicine, MSU) in the framework of the 1st Symposium with international participation on "Actual problems of biomedical engineering" (2005, Kyiv); advanced training telecourses for University lecturers are constantly held, as well as video conferences with the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
The center is developing telemedicine video consultations: on the basis of the Center a number of telemedicine consultations of patients of the Regional Children's Hospital were conducted by leading specialists of OKHMADIT (Kyiv) (Maternity and Child Welfare Service).
Since 2008, on the basis of the CDET, thematic improvement courses and precertification cycles have been held for the Faculty of Postgraduate Education. For this purpose, Distance Learning Centers have been organized in Simferopol, Odessa, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Melitopol, Enerhodar, Berdiansk and Orikhiv.
