Training Medical and Laboratory Center
Training Medical and Laboratory Center (TMLC) is located in the educational buildings №1 and №2 of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, in the University Clinic.
TMLC is equipped with modern scientific equipment for conducting various scientific researches. Molecular-cellular, physico-chemical, densitometric, enzyme-linked immunosorbent, immunohistochemical, computer-morphometric, instrumental-functional and experimental-pharmacological studies are performed in TMLC.
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Andriy Volodymyrovych Abramov is the head of TMLC. He has been heading the department since 2004.
Professor Davydov VV, Professor Voloshin MA, Associate Professor Trzhetsinsky SD were the heads of TMLC in previous years.
The Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Functional Biochemistry consists of the following sections:
Laboratories of the department solve fundamental problems of pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy on experimental models of diseases (diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, stress, etc.). The Department of Molecular Pharmacology is accredited by the State Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for preclinical trials of drugs. The department is equipped with the modern equipment: the SilentCrusher-S homogenizer (Heildolph, Germany), the Libra S32PC spectrophotometer (Biochrom ltd., England), the Quantech fluorimeter (Barnstead / Thermolyne Corporation, the USA), the full-plate enzyme immunoassay analyzer Sirio-S (Seac, Italy) ph-meter MR-220 (Mettler Toledo, Switzerland), ultracentrifuges Eppendorf-5804R and Sigma 3-30K with freezer (Germany), centrifugal concentrator-evaporator TOMY CC-181 (Japan), automatic pipette dispensers with adjustable volume Biohit proline, Finland). The process of their preliminary lyophilization using a lyophilizer Alpha1-2LD-plus (Christ, England) is used for long-term preservation of biological samples.

The research activity of the department is aimed at studying the pathophysiological mechanisms of diabetes mellitus, ischemic brain damage and ways to correct mitochondrial dysfunction. In addition, TMLC provides advisory and methodological assistance to university staff on the topics of their doctoral and master's theses, as well as helps to conduct certain fragments of research on the planned state budget and initiative departmental research work.
The laboratory of experimental pathophysiology is equipped with a hardware complex of ECG analysis and cardiointervalometric analysis "Cardiocom" (Ukraine), a hardware complex of cardiohemodynamics analysis "Reokom" (Ukraine), a hardware complex of respiratory system analysis "Spirocom" (Ukraine), a hardware complex of dosing of hypoxic loadings "Hypotron" (Ukraine) and platelet aggregation analyzer AR 210 "Solar - Ukraine". The system of these complexes provides an opportunity for a comprehensive analysis of the functional potential of human life support systems, assessment of the adaptive reserve and compensatory capabilities of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
The laboratory of morphometric and densitometric measurements is equipped with AxioImager-M2 and Axioskop fluorescent microscopes (Carl Zeiss, Germany), Axiovision digital image analysis system (Carl Zeiss, Germany) and VIDAS-386 (Kontron Elektronik, Germany) with analysis software and software development environment. The technical capabilities of the laboratory allow for histochemical and immunofluorescent detection of hormones, biologically active substances and surface antigens directly in cells to determine their distribution in the cell, as well as to assess the processes of their synthesis and secretion, etc. Applications for these purposes of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies of known world manufacturers give the chance to solve a wide range of scientific problems in the field of molecular and cellular physiology, immunology, neurophysiology, oncology.
The histochemical laboratory is equipped with a precision rotary microtome Microm NM-325 (Microm, Germany), an automated dewaxing module PT-module (Thermo Scientific, USA), Red Line thermostats (Binder, Germany).

The laboratory of liquid chromato-mass spectrometry is engaged in establishing the purity and confirmation of the molecular weight and structure of new biologically active substances synthesized in order to search for new drugs; investigates the processes of adsorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. The laboratory is equipped with Agilent 1260 Infinity HPLC System hardware (degasser, binary pump, autosampler, column thermostat, diode-matrix detector; Agilent 6120 single-quadrupole mass spectrometer with electrospray ionization) and Open LABCDS Software.
Laboratory of physicochemical research provides analytical studies of drugs in substances and dosage forms of industrial and extemporaneous production, analysis of medicinal plant raw materials, establishing the structure of new synthesized organic compounds. The laboratory is equipped with a high-precision two-beam spectrophotometer SPECORD 200 (Germany), IR-Fourier spectrometer ALPHA (Germany),) a derivatograph for thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis DTG-60 (Shimadzu C˚ Japan), and modern analytical and electronic PFB 120-3.
The PMR spectral analysis laboratory is equipped with a unique analytical 1H-NMR spectrometer picoSpin-45, which allows to determine the structure of the obtained potential biologically active compounds and reagents. It is used to determine impurities in fuel, edible fats and essential oils, as well as control and optimize flow reactions.
The elemental analysis laboratory is equipped with an elemental analyzer ELEMENTAR vario EL cube (Germany) and analytical electronic scales KERN abj 220-4M (Germany), which together allow to perform elemental analysis of organic compounds and determine the percentage of elements in organic molecules (H, C, N and S).
The Laboratory of Organic Synthesis №1 carries out a set of works on the synthesis of new promising bioactive agents and reagents for organic synthesis, as well as on the additional purification of reagents and solvents for synthetic works. The laboratory is equipped with a set of modern equipment for organic synthesis: rotary evaporator HAHNVAPOR (South Korea), magnetic mixer Daihan WiseStir MSH-20D (South Korea), mixer hinged Daihan WiseStir HS-30D (South Korea), Germany pV vacuum system , drying cabinet Ukrrgsintez SP-50 (Ukraine). The presence of modern analytical equipment - a device for determining the melting point Stuart Scientific SMP-30 (UK), pH meter MI-150 (Russia) and electronic scales Radwag allows you to determine individual physicochemical characteristics of the obtained compounds directly in the laboratory.
Laboratory of organic synthesis №2 is equipped with modern fume hoods manufactured by NPP "Ukrrgsintez" (Ukraine) and supply and exhaust system LG LZ H0506BA0.In the process of research are actively used: rotary evaporator IKA RV 10 (Germany), laboratory vacuum system Ilm 300m Z (Germany), automatic melting point device OptiMelt MPA 100 (USA), GFL 2001/2 water distiller (Germany), Radwag WLC / C / 2 electronic scales (Poland), SP-50 drying cabinet (Ukraine) and magnetic mixers Riva (Ukraine) Reagents and chemical utensils are supplied from such well-known manufacturers as Sigma-Aldrich, Lab-Scan, Fluka, Merck, Simax, Vitlab, etc. Equipment and reagents allow for a targeted organic synthesis of potential biologically active compounds.

Department of Molecular Genetic Research.
The Department of Microbiological Research provides bacteriological research of biological material, study of antimicrobial activity of synthesized chemicals using strains of microorganisms E.coli, S.aureus, C.albicans, P.aeruginosa, conducting internal quality control of microbiological research. The department is equipped with standard control materials of industrial production (standard titers for pH measurement control, standard calibration solutions for determining the optical density of bacterial suspension in McFarland turbidity units), museum cultures of microorganisms to control the quality of nutrient media. The department is equipped with an immersion microscope Biolam-P11 (Russia), a luminescent microscope PrimoStar iLED (Carl Zeiss, Germany), a thermostat-incubator WiseCube WIG-32, modern refrigeration, exhaust and auxiliary equipment.
The Department of Molecular Genetic Research provides diagnostic tests for the detection of DNA / RNA of microorganisms, fundamental studies for the detection of quantitative mRNA levels, studies of the association of gene polymorphism (SNP) with the development of multifactorial human diseases using real-time PCR. The department is equipped with the necessary modern equipment for isolation, amplification and detection of PCR results in real time, in particular: mini-centrifuge Vortex FV-2400, centrifuge SM-50, vacuum aspirator FTA-1, thermostat TDB-120, laminar flow cabinets BIO II ADV BBS-DDS, UVC / TM-AR PCR box, TUBE MILL CONTROL tissue shredder, CFX-96 real-time PCR system, NanoDrop ND1000 spectrophotometer (NanoDrop Technologies, USA), refrigeration equipment and pipette dispensers.
