*PTOLEMY - problem-based learning of military and emergency medicine focusing on virtual patients. Interactive electronic scenarios VPs are increasingly recognised by the medical education community, as very effective tools for learning both clinical sciences and developing skills in patient management. In this type of scenario, students can explore and clinically manage the VPs, make mistakes, and learn from them. This is ideal for the challenges presented by emergencies during a disaster: the practitioner needs to make rapid assessments, instantly take decisions, prioritise efforts, and begin actions to stabilise those who can survive.
The project aims to:
- Implement interactive electronic scenarios VPs in the curricula of medical schools of Ukraine that will allow to increase the effectiveness of already existing disaster medicine courses
- Train students in disaster management using such immersive, interactive resources and learning tools, based on real-life disasters
- Ukrainian teachers will acquire cutting edge skills in both VP resource development and learning activities
- Disseminate the project outputs through the newly created network of institutions contributing to the enhancing disaster medicine education.
