To choose a University is one of the first "adult" task that challenges the future students. And the issue here is not limited to the choice of field of study. Geographic boundaries are eliminateddue to the dynamic internationalization that has affected all spheres.
Zaporozhye State Medical University is one of the first among Ukrainian Universities that opened its doors to foreign students. During the past 40 years ZSMU has provided an opportunity for students to obtain a qualification of doctor of medicine and pharmacist.
Zaporozhye State Medical University was also the first among other Universities in post-Soviet countries, that started provision of the educational services to the citizens of India. At present time about 900 students from the Republic of India are studying in this respected University.
But it would not be possible without the cooperation between our two countries. For long period of time the Administration of Zaporozhye State Medical University together with representatives of the Embassy of Republic of India in Kiev and Embassy of Ukraine in Delhi has been solving difficult urgent issues of Indian citizens who decided to obtain higher medical education in Ukraine, namely at Zaporozhye State Medical University.
In March 2015 the first secretary of the Embassy of India Mr. Ranbir Singh Sandhu visited Zaporozhye State Medical University. In April 2016 HE Ambassador Manoj Kumar Bharti officially visited ZSMU. In return in August 2016 Ivan Yurchenko, the Head of International Department of ZSMU, visited the Ukrainian Embassy in Delhi. A recent meeting with representatives of institutions took place during the conference at Ukrainian State Centerfor International Education “Current issues of training foreign students in Ukraine in 2017-2018 academic year” on April 24- 25 , Kyiv.
During these meetings the safety of Indian students was a primary issue. Representatives of the Embassies were pleasantly surprised by the friendly attitude of Ukrainian students towards foreign students. The security system and video control were specially marked. The academic success of students was also the current issue as well as prospects of post-graduate education, ways to improve the living conditions, education and entertainment.
Due to ZSMU competent professors and famous Indian researchers who annually visit ZSMU to deliver lectures, assisting in preparation for exams. More than 80% of Indian students successfully pass exams in the Medical Council of India. Due to bilateral cooperation ZSMU became the first among Ukrainian institutions of higher education in recruitment of Indian students for training.
We appreciate the support of Indian colleagues for significant contribution and valuable experience that we can then share with other Universities in Ukraine and abroad.
