Every year, students of the Foreign Languages Department of ZSMU take an active part in the competition of literary translations "PereKLADach", which is traditionally held by the student scientific society "PereKLADach" and the Department of Slavic Philology and Translation of Mariupol State University. ZSMU students study English with interest, expand the range of communication, and test their skills in the art of literary translation.
This year this competition was held for the 16th time. It is also worth to be mentioned that we have a second place winner in the nomination "Translation of a poetic work from English" – Yurii Novik, a first-year student in specialty "Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy". The young man was preparing for the competition under the guidance of Alla Kulichenko, the Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department, and a long quarantine did not pose any problem. After receiving the award, Yurii said: "The competition was very interesting and developing. By translating the texts of competition tasks, we not only master a foreign language, but also get acquainted with new literary works and discover new authors. I want to thank Alla Konstantynivna for help and support."
Congratulating Yurii on his first victory, we wish him success in his studies and further creative achievements. I want other students to follow the example of the winner, it motivates to learn English perfectly, to discover the whole world of another culture, to read literature, periodicals, watch movies in the original, and this is a great image factor.
