Oleh Mishchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Surgical and Propaedeutic Dentistry of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, President of ICOI Europe-Ukraine, performed another extremely complicated operation on the lower jaw with one-step replacement of the removed fragment with an implant made at Motor-Sich PJSC.
"This time we had to operate on a tooth-containing adamantinoma, a tumor in the lower jaw, which has a high risk of developing oncopathology and poses a threat to the patient's life," - says Oleh. "Usually when a significant fragment of bone is removed, the patient becomes disabled. Thanks to the latest technologies owned by Motor-Sich PJSC and many years of fruitful cooperation between scientists of our university and leading experts of the company, based the technology of selective laser sintering of titanium (high-precision 3D metal printing) we made an individual prosthesis, which replaced the removed bone."
The exarticulation of the mandible was performed together with Associate Professor Suren Diasovych Varzhapetian, Doctor of Medicine, in Zaporizhzhia, in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery of the Regional Accident and Emergency Hospital. The installation of an individualized titanium implant allowed to fully preserve the function of the patient's jaw, which will certainly have a positive impact on his quality of life.
Zaporizhzhia State Medical University has many years of experience of successful cooperation with Motor-Sich: joint development of endoprostheses of the hip and hip joints is now widely used by orthopedists, and maxillofacial joints and bones – by dental surgeons.
