Doctors-interns - ongoing assistance and support

Doctors-interns - ongoing assistance and support The quarantine period at the Department of Family Medicine, Therapy, Cardiology and Neurology of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education of ZSMU was too multifaceted and comprehensive. "According to the schedule, in the second semester of the current academic year, the Department trains intern physicians on specialties "internal diseases", "general practice - family medicine", "neurology", as well as thematic training courses for practicing physicians, - says the head of the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vitaliy Krivenko. - Coronavirus made adjustments to a well-functioning harmonious system, and the educational process at the department with second-year interns in the specialties “Internal Medicine” and “General Practice - Family Medicine” was transferred to the remote mode.  From March 18 to March 20, an online course "Fundamentals of Primary Prevention" was conducted for all groups on the edX platform.  The test was successfully passed by 30 interns.

Consequently, for conducting classes using remote technologies, created teams of interns and teachers of the department on the platform "Teams", as well as groups in the messenger "Viber". Since March 23, the training material was worked out according to the calendar plan using electronic resources: applications of the platform "Office 365", in particular, "Teams" and "ClassNote" by sections: "Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Palliative care, Internal medicine (for the specialty "General practice - family medicine").

However, at present, according to the order of the Ministry of Health, interns are working at distance training bases to help practitioners during this difficult period. We are waiting for the opportunity to continue our lessons as usual".

The staff of the department uses every opportunity to convey knowledge to the medical community, widely using the latest technologies of education in a remote format. In March-April, the chair organized courses of thematic improvement "Modern aspects and clinical interpretation of ultrasound examination of heart and vessels" for 12 doctors, as well as "Practical aspects of medical examination of working capacity and rehabilitation in the activity of doctors", where nine doctors renewed their knowledge.

"The listeners of the cycle on ultrasonic diagnostics were engaged remotely in the social network" Facebook ", - noted the associate professor of the department Igor Kachan. - The choice of this option is based on two principles. First of all, it is an opportunity to cover a wide audience and organize professional communication without using additional programs and equipment. Secondly, the standard functionality of the social network meets most of the requirements for effective cooperation between a teacher and a contingent of students in a cycle of thematic improvement. Contrary to a certain limitation of distance learning to improve knowledge and skills in ultrasound diagnosis, a number of video lectures, master classes, interactive proceedings of clinical cases, a series of questionnaires and answers to listeners' questions in the comments, so we consider the cycle quite successful.

The participants of the thematic cycle "Practical aspects of medical examination of working capacity and rehabilitation in the activity of doctors" improved their skills with the help of the client program "Skype for Business". The difference and advantage was the possibility of professional online communication: discussion of training issues, analysis of clinical cases and consultations were useful for improving the skills of practitioners who are faced with the problems of medical expertise in their daily work.

The interest of doctors of various specialties in the aspects of diagnosis, flow and treatment of COVID-19 inspired scientists of ZSMU, including Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Michael Kolesnik, who prepared and delivered a lecture on multimodal diagnostics of lung lesions in coronavirus infection. The lecture is available for viewing on video hosting "Youtube" under the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9MjT-6sJD0

The head of the chair, professor Vitalie Crivenco and the professors of the chair have elaborated the program and started the recording of the video lectures in the course "Fundamentals of Health Protection Management", which will be held for the university professors.

The professors give daily consultations to the interns, who, although working at the distance training bases, maintain live communication with the department, solving professional questions by means of electronic correspondence, "Viber" messenger and by phone.
