To be competitive at labor market students need to have medical experience at sufficient level. ZSMU provides a lot of opportunities for students to gain such experience. Our student, Valeria Kucher, who is at her 3rd year now, Medical Faculty No. 3, went to Estonia for practical training under the Erasmus+ Program. Valeria needed to meet a severe competition for getting a place at this Student Mobility Program. Occupational therapy is a quite new filed in Ukrainian medicine, and the experience received in Tallinn will be of a great value here in Ukraine.
Valeria undertakes the practical training at Ida-Viru Central Hospital. Every day she works with 7-8 patients under the supervision of an occupational therapist Veera Tsepeleva. Valeria designs specialized tasks for the treatment of patients with special needs. For some stroke patients, she used exercises with coloring images and plasticine. For example, in the photo, you can see how Valeria is working with one of the stroke patients. She is using these methods to develop his spatial intelligence, motility and motion control skills.
