A paralyzed man started to walk in exo-skeleton

French scientists implanted 28 years old French paralyzed man with special sensors and taught him how to control it by the power of his  mind. The results of the work were published in the medical magazine “Lancet’’. Thibaud became paralyzed after falling from the balcony. This device is his hope for returning the joy of life. This project is a collaboration of the center of biotechnologies “Clinatec” and The University Clinic of Grenoble.

Moving signals from the brain are proceeded by an adaptive algorithm in real-time.To learn the accurate interpretation of signals from brain Thibaud passed special traineeship that lasted 2 years. He learned how to make a virtual person in a special computer program to move.

In June 2019, Thibaud managed to establish contact with a program that controlled walking and arm movements of the exoskeleton. Overall, he has so far managed to walk about 145 meters inside the laboratory.
