ZSMU scientists seek to keep up with times and introduce modern Ukrainian and global technologies at the university. Today modern technologies tend to in vitro research activity, that supposed a work with cell cultures. That is why on the initiative of Prof. Yuriy Kolesnik, the rector of ZSMU, we decided to create a cell culture laboratory at ZSMU. We have passed from the step of the idea discussion to its realization, we began with the studying of experience both Ukrainian and foreign scientific institutions, where such technologies are already applied.
Recently workers of pathologic physiology, dean, Doctor of Medical Sciences, prof. Olga Gancheva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate prof. Taras Ivanenko and assistant, Maksym Danukalo have visited Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology (Kiev) and Medical Faculty of Sumy State University (Sumy). The aim of travel was acquaintance with structure and equipment, and also acquaintance with peculiarities of work of cells culture laboratories’, that actively function in these institutions.
The powerful experience was gained by both institutions, particularly by workers of Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology, where cell researching has begun since the 70s of the last century, that is why the practical experience of its leading scientists was very useful for our scientists. They also got highly important advice from the Director of the institution, academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Oleg Kryshtal’. The sincere professional conversation was taken place at the Department of Biophysics of Ion Channels, which is headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences, prof. Olena Lukyanec. Scientists of the institution also advised during intercourse at room-museum of Ukrainian neurophysiologist, academian ,Platon Grygorovycha Kostuka.
We should admit that it was not the first acquaintance of prof. Olga Gancheva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate prof. Taras Ivanenko and assistant Maksym Danukalo with the specifics of cell culture laboratories. As Olga Victorivna and Maksym Victorovich had studied peculiarities of obtaining and usage of cell cultures at Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology in June, and Taras Vasyl’ovich studied it during the visit to Hebei Medical University in Shiyan, People's Republic of China.
Knowledge gained by ZSMU scientists will help in planning and designing the modern laboratory that will bring the research work of our scientists to the global level.
