On October 11-12 in the city Nicosia, Cyprus with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus on the basis of the Pedagogical Institute of the International University of Cyprus held the III International conference "Literacy and Contemporary Society: Identities, Texts, Institutions". Organizational events took place in one of the largest conference centers in Europe "Filoxenia Conference Centre" and brought together participants from more than 35 countries, including the United States, Germany, Austria, Estonia, Greece, Finland, Great Britain. Ukraine was represented on the international arena by an Associate Professor of the language training department at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University.
The purpose of the conference is to organize a forum on literacy and modern society, exchange experience, theoretical achievements, scientific findings and knowledge, focused on the complex relationship of identities, texts and institutions in the broadest sense, as well as in individual moments of education, scientific institutions, social political and historical contexts.
During the conference, various aspects of the concepts of "literacy" and "identity" were considered and various aspects of these areas were discussed. Special attention was paid to modern methods and technologies of teaching. This was the subject of Zhanna Mikhailovna's report "The MODERN ON-LINE INTERACTIVE TOOLS AS AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF TEACHING LANGUAGES", which caused a lively discussion among the audience.
Separate bonus moments were lectures and master classes from the leading professors of the world, Bill Scope and Mary Kalantiz (University of Illinois, Chicago) and Mike Bynham (University of Leeds, UK)
