Vyshyvanka Day

Vyshyvanka Day

Source of inspiration, treasury of ancient traditions, the mirror of the Ukrainian soul, fashion accessory, it is all about vyshyvanka.

Today Ukrainians all over the world are celebrating the day of the national embroidered shirt or vyshyvanka.

In ancient times, Ukrainians expressed themselves through a pattern embroidered on a men's or women's shirt. People wore casual and festive shirts. There lived a certain ethnic group in each region of the country, which had its own local patterns and traditions.

The event is usually celebrated on the third Thursday of May. It has turned into a global cultural diplomacy opportunity for the numerous Ukrainian communities around the world, and a national statement inside the country. The Vyshyvanka Day emerged as a flash mob not attached to any public holiday.

On this day Ukrainians wear vyshyvankas to demonstrate adherence to the idea of national identity. The day unites Ukrainians regardless of their gender, social status, religious beliefs or political opinions.

Join the holiday of national pride!
