On June 10-15, 2016 Varynskyi B.O., associated professor of physical and colloid chemistry department, and Maiboroda T.M., director of Inter Assistance, Ltd, visited Colombo, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, to establish connections and cooperation between Zaporozhye State Medical University and Central Institute of Science & Technology (Colombo, Sri Lanka).
During the event the Ukrainian representatives met with the Administration of the Institute. Rangamini Werawatta, director of the Institute, held a presentation about the Institute, Tetiana Maiboroda told about Ukraine, the system of education in Ukraine, and the higher educational institutions in the country; Borys Varynskyi did a presentation about ZSMU.
The participants of the meeting discussed issues concerning the peculiarities of the secondary education in higher educational institutions of Sri Lanka and other countries, the process of selection, recruitment of students to ZSMU, requirements and criteria for admission to the University, tuition fees, accommodation and personal expenses during the stay in Ukraine, and other important issues.
Ukrainian representatives also participated in the seminar for the graduates of secondary schools, who struggle to receive qualified higher medical education, and their parents, that took place in Yakkala and Kadavatta.
At the end of the meeting the parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
