Magna Charta Universitatum
On its anniversary year Zaporizhzhia State Medical University signed the Magna Charta Universitatum, a document defining the fundamental principles of the activities of the Universities of the world.
On September 17-18, 2018 the thirtieth ceremony of the Magna Charta Universitatum took place at the University of Salamanca (Spain) to celebrate its 800th anniversary. During thirty years more than 800 universities from 86 countries signed the Magna Charta Universitatum. This year the number of signatories was the most remarkable. The ceremony took place in an extremely solemn setting with the participation of the King and Queen of Spain, which emphasized the importance of the event. After the ceremony University representatives wearing academic gowns and caps went on a solemn procession along the streets of Salamanca.
The new members of the Magna Charta Universitatum were congratulated by the Rector of the University of Bologna, Professor Umbertini.
In addition to the ceremony, the conference took place where the changing values of Universities were discussed. 250 University representatives discussed how to adapt the university system to the needs of society.
