It seems that courses of specialization and advanced training in ultrasound have recently started at the interdepartmental training center of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University. However, they have been working for 3 year already. That was the idea of the faculty of postgraduate education, which was supported by the administration of the university and was successfully implemented by a team of highly qualified specialists - professors, associate professors of the university. Doctors of medical sciences, professors Vitaliy Syvolap, Dmytro Barkovsky, Tamila Shumna, candidates of medical sciences, associate professors Natalia Tumanska, Ivan Pertsov and other specialists work with students.
The group of participants worked with associate professor Natalia Tumanska. Employees of ZSMU departments - associate professors, assistants of the departments of anesthesiology and intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology and medical practitioners from medical institutions took part there. All participants worked according to the security measures dictated by quarantine.
"This year, our group includes young doctors who are starting to practice, as well as with extensive experience who need to master the technique of ultrasound," said Natalia Valerievna. - These are doctors of different specializations such as therapists, endocrinologists, anesthesiologists and resuscitators, obstetricians - gynecologists, urologists, others. During the three-year operation of our project, we were convinced of the unwavering interest in it and the demand and huge resonance among doctors - practitioners, scientists of the departments.
“More than fifty participants have mastered modern diagnostic methods, and applications are still been receiving. After all, ultrasound is an indispensable assistant for the skilled specialist who wants professional growth. Anesthesiologists and resuscitators understand this and they need to have practical skills of emergency diagnosis, using an ultrasound sensor in a few minutes to obtain information about the internal organs of the injured person, bleeding, etc. and take resuscitation measures.
The courses are planned according to a three-month program and include lectures, seminars that are held on-line. Practical classes are off-line. We would like to thank the rector of the university for the wonderful conditions created in the interdepartmental training center. Here we have the real modern equipment, everything for the students is thought out to the smallest detail. The head of the Center, assistant of the Department of Internal Medicine 1 and Simulation Medicine Kateryna Romanova always helps to organize the educational process.
" Participants carefully work with four high-class ultrasound machines, learn to recognize the organs of the abdominal cavity in its normal physiological state and with possible pathologies. Here are their impressions: Candidate of Medical Sciences, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine 1 and Simulation Medicine Yevhen Aravitsky,: “My personal initiative coincided with the departmental one. I am an anesthesiologist and I need to study. Our department works based on the cardiology department of the City Hospital of Emergency and Ambulance, where we consult heart attack patients, while examining the condition of the main vessels of the neck. Usually, such patients are seen by one ultrasound doctor, for a large number of patients this is not enough, I think my skills will be useful for our patients. I have already felt the interest and wide possibilities of specialization, both in terms of central access, punctures and other manipulations, which under the control of the ultrasound machine. They are as much safely and comfortably as possible for the doctor and the patient. "
Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Maryna Potapenko: "All over the civilized world, doctors of my specialty have the technique of ultrasound; it helps to be independent from narrow specialists or diagnosticians. What could be more reliable than to visualize with your own eyes, pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, etc. We also can see fluid in the abdomen, the affected organ and to diagnose it in the shortest possible time. In front of the monitor, I can understand the problem in a few minutes. Ultrasound is simply necessary for the anesthesiologist, because every minute is precious in the struggle for the patient's life, so screening should be done immediately, and X-rays, CT scans are always a waste of precious time. That is why ultrasound diagnostics is simply irreplaceable, and I study, gain experience and skills at the courses. The correct position of the hands and the picture on the screen are important for me.
" Doctor - urologist of the Zaporizhzhia polyclinic №4 Igor Galaidych: "I graduated from ZSMU, of course, I knew about ultrasound diagnostics during my studies, but more remotely, I didn't have to practice myself. I believe that a modern doctor needs such knowledge in everyday practice. It is important to be convinced of this or that pathology, for example, a prostate gland, to see deviations from norm, to define the sizes. An ultrasound doctor sees all the organs with their own eyes, and this view may differ from the opinion of an urologist or other specialist. I am interested in learning, I am sure that I will need such knowledge. Thank you for the good organization of studies, it's nice to be a student again for a while. "
