One hundred and fifty sixth-year foreign medical students of the II International Faculty have begun to upgrade their practical and theoretical skills in case of preparation for the final certification that will take place in summer. This period will be until February 26.
The Dean of the II International Faculty, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor Ivan Melnyk noticed that due to the pandemic our students studied in a mixed form of education, but constantly expressed a desire to study off-line format. They were looking forward to have the possibility to practice at Interdepartmental training center and in the computer classes of the university that is why they came back for full-time study on time and with a good attitude to work. They started to solve professional tasks diligently and responsibly.
The head of the Interdepartmental Training Center Kateryna Romanova told that two groups of 11 and 12 sixth-year foreign medical students are practicing their practical skills. We have divided them into subgroups for convenience. While one subgroup is doing exercises with the task of electrocardiography, the other is demonstrating the skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Meanwhile students of another subgroup show how to conduct therapeutic and propaedeutic examination properly. They are doing auscultation, percussion, palpation of the heart and lungs. Moreover, they are demonstrating their practical knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology. They will pass four locations accompanied by four teachers. Teachers of three departments of internal medicine, departments of obstetrics and gynecology, the department of hospital pediatrics, the department of faculty pediatrics, the department of propaedeutic of pediatrics, the department of anesthesiology and intensive care and the department of disaster medicine and military medicine are working with students.
One more area of practical skills is a work with a virtual patient by three scenarios - therapeutic, pediatric and infectious diseases in connection with COVID-19. They will also demonstrate knowledge of surgery and general hygiene. For solving these tasks, students are working in specially designated computer classes located at different departments. From 1st of March such type of training is waiting for Ukrainian graduates of I and II medical faculties.
