Today is a holiday in ZSMU, not marked in any calendar, but so pleasant for the whole team — youngsters, who recently were listed as applicants, and now became a full-fledged students, came to the University.
The freshmen have already got acquainted with the University remotely, and watched the welcome speeches of Professor Yurii Kolesnyk, the Rector of ZSMU, members of the Administration, as well as professors and heads of leading departments. So, they started remote studies. And today they came to the University in person.
Due to quarantine restrictions, we cannot see them in our best classrooms, and even the faces of boys and girls are tightly covered with the masks, but we look into their eyes, see their curiosity, so friendship with the University will last for all their years of study.
"This year, 903 domestic students entered the University for full-time and part-time forms of education, and today more than 640 full-time students have already arrived," said Svitlana Morhuntsova, Pro-rector for scientific-pedagogical and academic work. "The algorithm of their stay in ZSMU in the first days is as follows: first of all, they undergo a medical examination, register to receive logins and passwords to the electronic resources of the University, and receive textbooks in the Research Library. If needed, students may settle in dormitories. From October 1, students begin practical classes. Freshmen will continue to listen to lectures online, like everyone else, and all departments are waiting for practical ones. We wish our freshmen perseverance, inspired productive work, promising golden student years."
By the way, according to Svitlana Morhuntsova, today students of all courses of specialties "Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy" and "Technology of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment" started working in the classroom format. They are concentrated on the territory of the University and the University Clinic. The Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, as well as other departments according to the curriculum, will support the specialty "Technology of Medical Diagnosis and Treatment", and future physiotherapists and occupational therapists will start classes in the new, overhauled, basic Center of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. It is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art teaching equipment, technical teaching devices, and the university has purchased a wide variety of computer equipment, from laptops to large panels.
Today, the atmosphere is quite livened up at the Circulation Department of Educational Literature of the Research Library, as freshmen go here to receive literature.
"We have prepared for these days," said RLU Director Tetiana Karpenko. "We meet freshmen of all faculties and specialties of the full-time form of education, 200-250 people will receive sets of textbooks every day, in three days everyone will receive their books. Now most of the library staff is focused on issuance, everything goes smooth. At the entrance, students are met by a librarian, who explains the format of work in the book storeroom, after that an intern conducts thermometry for everyone, and then freshmen fill out a registration card. This year, for the convenience and minimization of the stay in the room, we have prepared an electronic ticket for everyone in advance, which gives the right to use all the resources of our book collection. Unfortunately, this year it is not possible to gather freshmen for traditional discussions about the rules of library use, when employees try to influence their consciousness and emphasize the importance of a careful attitude to literature. We will do it individually, in the process of communication and we hope that the honest reader will always respect the book, because he has invaluable services from the library."
